Buhach struck first, but Bullard scored 70 unanswered, including a 42-point second quarter as the Knights defeated the host Thunder 70-3 Friday night at Atwater High's Falcon Field.
Junior quarterback Tyler Franklin threw six touchdowns, three to Davien Potts, two to Tyrin Pree and one to Tomas Dixon. Senior Devon Laney and sophomore Shondel Hogan Jr. both added rushing touchdowns. Junior Ryder Robesky recovered Hogan's blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown and sophomore safety Jayden Jenkins rounded out the scoring with an interception return for a touchdown.
The Knights played under a running clock in the second half and senior Preston Clarke tied a school record with 10 PATs made.
Bullard hosts rival Hoover at McLane High School next friday in its home opener, aptly titled "The Battle of Barstow". The Knights will look to stay undefeated while the Patriots will be looking for their first win of the season.
